Inside the Studio - Wet Clay

So many of my customers are curious about the studio. Though I describe the process in each product listing, it's true, there is much more to know! The ceramic focal beads start out as a lump of wet clay. I purchase clay in a variety of colors - white, toast, chocolate ... and they look much like cookies before baking! I have a ton of stamps and rollers that I use to create texture. The image here is of toast-colored clay that is completely dry. Once beads have dried (and they must be dried slowly, or they will crack!) they are extremely fragile. I lose many beads at this stage.
